Does anyone know of any good sites to download C/K/J-Pop and anime? Torrent sites, forums, etc., anything. Maybe we should compile a list since it's hard to find good reliable places. I guess I should start with some sites I know:

MUSIC

Torrents:

The Public Masamune Torrents (http://torrents.theppn.org)
Suprnova (http://www.suprnova.org)

Forums:

BaMbOO (http://s4.invisionfree.com/BaMbOO)
ZeroDegrees (http://z-degrees.net)
Soompi (http://soompi.com)

Streams:
Pops in Seoul (http://www.arirangtv.com/english/programs/pops_in_seoul/weekly_top10.asp) <-- K-Pop only

ANIME

Torrents:

Anime Suki (http://www.animesuki.com)
Suprnova (http://www.suprnova.org)

Please post other sites so we could add to the list! Please use one of the catagories above (or create a new one if I missed one) so we can make it organized.

Like many things in this world, it depends...

Bootlegs are a "good" option to go to if you're interested in a series that's really long (e.g. Ranma, Kenshin, etc.) and you don't have the cash to spend 25-30 bucks per DVD. It would then be more logical to spend something like 80-100 bucks on a bootleg edition than to spend more than twice that on domestic.

Also, bootlegs are a "good" option if you really don't care for any extras and just want the anime--you get more anime for your buck. And most bootlegs these days look pretty damn good (a local anime store sells em and screens a few for customer inquires and I've been there to see the subs and video quality look really good). Of course, there are still those out there, particularly older anime titles, that are horrible boots.

Then you have the bootleg-bootleg, the so-called "perfect collections" that are basically rips of the domestic release with their dubs and subs.

And of course, it's "bad" because the profits earned by buying these bootlegs don't go to the anime companies that were fortunate enough to license and release those series domestically. Bootlegging takes away from their revenue which translates to them being less likely to license more anime (i.e. they won't have the cash to license).

These are just a few of the pros and cons, but like I said, it really comes down to "it depends..."

There's a tasteful sex scene in the third Tenchi Muyo! movie, Tenchi Forever. Tasteful, but pissed me off cuz it was with someone I didn't want Tenchi being lured by lol. XD

f

I love GTO--funniest anime series I've seen. The manga's much better though.

f

never owned a car and don't really care for them. ^^; in fact i don't really like driving.

I haven't seen many asian films, but here's a quick rundown of the ones I've seen:

Ringu
Ringu 2
Audition
Postman Blues
Suicide Circle
In the Mood for Love
Shall We Dance
Returner
Ran
Seven Samurai
Battle Royale
Ju-on
Uzumaki

And a good number of Jackie Chan's old movies (Supercop being my favorite). And of course, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. XD

i liked them all except for Suicide Circle. It lacked direction in my opinion. Anyway, hope to see some more in the future. Asian cinema has this certain je n'ai sais quoi quality about them that you don't see too often in Western cinema. I think it's the depth of character.

f

ooh, then can I be Devil's Advocate? XD

I have a Linksys Wireless-G router setup. It's pretty easy to set up and secure so long as you read the instuctions--which are slightly ambiguous but not completely un-followable.

f

they've even sold titles of nobility... O.o

f

I love BoA! And I agree with what BoneyCork said. She's growing up, so let her experiment with her image. She's no Britney--she's better (watch her video for "My Name" and you'll see).

i also posted the MP3 of "My Name" over at www.animepaper.net in case anyone is interested. :nya:

I'm not really into opera per se (I like it but not an avid fan, that is), but I love Tosca, Madame Butterfly, and The Mikado. Great selections among those three. :)

I just wanted to put the word out that I'm putting up some of my manga up for auction on eBay if anyone is interested. They are:

NEON GENESIS EVANGELION vols. 1-7 REGULAR EDITION
VIDEO GIRL AI vols. 1-7 FIRST EDITION
RANMA 1/2 vols. 1-4 FIRST EDITION

the respective URLs are as follows:

I appreciate any bids and if I need to delete this thread, then let me know. Thanks for looking! ^^;

I absolutely cannot wait for this game to come out! Ever since I saw screenshots for the original SO waaaaaaay back in the day in Nintendo Power I knew this was gonna be a special series. Having this belief confirmed when I played SO 2, I know SO 3 is gonna rock. The release of the directors cut is going to be well worth the wait, I'm sure.

Almost a month away! XD

f

i'd spend on a new laptop and some games more than likely lol

f

replies to this thread should be marked with spoiler tags b/c not everyone has watched/finished some of these series (and of course when you talk about saddest/happiest moments, you're bound to spoil something).

f

i think before anyone else replies to this thread, they should look at similar threads at www.animelayer.com or www.animeonline.net. There are threads where people have listed scan sites (in fact, they're pretty identitical to each other) so it would be redundant to do the same here.

Besides, everyone knows (or should know) APA since Nuriko has mentioned it several times on official MT news threads (mainly because people have been ripping scans from there and posting them here w/o credit).

f

It's among the best series out there, yes. But I wouldn't call it the best. Can any anime really be the best anime out there?

Still, I love the series. :D

f

Mine are:

-Rival Schools
-Soul Calibur 2
-Tekken 4
-Capcom vs SNK 2
-Marvel vs Capcom 2
-kof 2001 - 2003
-Guilty Gear XX
-Street Fighter Alpha 3
-Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike
-Last Blade 2
-Garou: Mark of the Wolves
-Samurai Shodown 4
-Street Fighter: Pocket Fighter

here's my anime collection as of today

http://www.myimgs.com/data/deviousoni/ACSummer2k4.jpg

I'm missing my Kare Kano DVDs cuz they're on loan. That plus a few of my PS2 games are in there just cuz they help fill in those near empty box sets that still need to be completed lol.

f

i find it a little annoying to have the clean openings and closing on every DVD of a series. I mean, unless they have different OP/EDs, then just have them on one volume instead of wasting DVD space across the whole series. That could be space used for other extras like OST previews or Japanese promo trailers or interviews with both japanese and localization staff.

f

i've only really been into anime for the past 3 years. You should see my collection--source of pride...and money woes. XD http://www.myimgs.com/data/deviousoni/ACSummer2k4.jpg

f

I think I'll say, "Yahoo! I win!" whenever I finish my homework from now on. XD

f

http://deviousoni.deviantart.com

i've been inactive there since they rid the anime walls.

I miss my pageviews there. XD
